With the beginning of another new year, I find myself reflecting on 2017 and at the same time looking forward to the possibilities that may come in 2018.
For Natural Inspirations Woodworking, 2017 was an outstanding year filled with exciting projects, both for our clients and for ourselves.
The year began by setting our strategic visions for the future. With the help of Naqsh Kochar and his team at Refresh, we took a hard look who we are and how we can use that to best serve our clients going forward. This exercise led to our vision statement, "Natural Inspirations Woodworking provides unique, one of a kind woodworking pieces made from the highest quality that can be passed down for generations.". This line is not just a catchphrase; it's our legacy. Our goal is not to produce transient pieces which will end up in a yard sale; instead, we would like to create timeless heirlooms that you will pass along.
We were also very excited this year to launch our Facebook page and would like to thank Dustin Ratzlaff and his crew at Unink for their help. This page is where we plan to share our projects, let you know what shows we are participating in, and maybe share a little advise on woodworking. If you are interested in what we are up to, please make sure to follow our page.
Most importantly 2017 was a great year because of our clients who gave us so many incredible opportunities this year. The largest and one of the most notable projects of the year was the customer counter/desk we designed and created for Close Capture Images of Saskatoon. This solid cherry piece features a waterfall desk and countertop, concealed electrical connections and a suspended bank of drawers. While this project presented many challenges, it was also tremendously satisfying.
We also had the honor to help people celebrate a milestone in their lives such as graduations and anniversaries and to pay tribute to their cultures by immortalizing them in plaques or signs. Understanding that these moments only happen once and that they may be fundamental to who a person is, we take these opportunities with the reverence they deserve.
As we move forward into 2018, we look forward to continuing the relationships we have made and creating new ones along the way. We hope to see you in the coming year as we keep designing and building timeless pieces and try to grow our audience.
Wishing you a happy new year and best wishes in 2018.
